Making your Website Search Engine Friendly
03/10/2008
The way in which customers find a website is by conducting a search on one of the many search engines such as Google.com, DogPile.com, and so on. For your web design pages to be found, you have to make sure that the right information is available to the people doing the search. In addition, the information provided must also be accessible. Although a little tricky, this can be done by providing a simple summary that will set you apart from the competition. In this one line, you would provide brief information as to what you sell and what makes your company so great. By adding a link to the summary, any potential customers can click on it, immediately taking them to your site.
In addition to information, your ecommerce website must be easy to navigate. If customers cannot move around easily and quickly, then you have lost them. To ensure your web design has a great navigational system, we suggest you place a navigation bar on the top left of all your site pages. This way, as customers turn from page to page, they are not trying to relocate the bar. Then, to make the site even better, include shortcuts to commonly visited pages. For instance, with an ecommerce site, you could create a shortcut taking them directly to the shopping cart to view what they have placed in the cart to buy. Finally, make the font easy to read. Remember, you will be attracting people of all ages and lifestyles so you want to make the site easy to read for everyone. The more people you can appeal to the better.
